Extendedcare.com Names Surges President, COO.

NORTHBROOK, Ill., Oct. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Extendedcare.com, the leading provider of Internet-based solutions and resources for the healthcare industry and consumers, has named Jeff Surges as president and chief operating officer. Jeff comes to extendedcare.com from McKessonHBOC, Inc., a pharmaceutical supply management and information technologies company.

Surges will oversee extendedcare.com's sales, marketing, operations, and finance departments. His initial efforts will focus on structuring and executing an aggressive national rollout of the company's products and services.

Surges, who has a strong track record in successfully managing high-growth companies, was president and general manager for a $100 million, 450-person strategic business unit of McKessonHBOC, Inc. In this position, he oversaw sales and marketing, product development and support, client services, human resources and accounting. In addition to these responsibilities, Surges drove the companies' initiatives focusing on delivering cost containment, reduction software and service solutions to more than 1,200 clients nationwide.

Surges also served as vice president of sales and service operations for HBOC Wheeling, Ill., a healthcare information technologies company that merged with McKesson. Prior to this position, he was vice president of sales for Enterprise Systems Inc., Wheeling, Ill., a medical/surgical distribution company that was acquired by HBOC. He also was a national account manager for CCC Information Services Inc., in Chicago.
