MASS. TRUCKER FACES ILLEGAL DUMPING COUNT EARLY-MORNING CRACKDOWN PAYS OFF.(Local)

A predawn stakeout Thursday morning on Nassau-Averill Park Road was short and successful for two Rensselaer County Sheriff's deputies.

After lying low for only 30 minutes, they spotted a red and green 1975 Mack dump truck pull onto property they said is owned by local dairy farmer Allan Smith.

And shortly after the driver of the truck, John W. Houghtaling of Lennox, Mass., pulled a canvas sheet off of the back of the truck and unloaded a pile of trash, the deputies arrested him and charged him with illegal dumping.
