Vic: Police declare crime scene at site of Sorrento bones find
The grassy area where human bones have been found at Sorrento, south-east of Melbourne,
has been declared a crime scene.
A police spokesman says homicide detectives are on their way to the scene, about 200
metres east of Sorrento cemetery.
The bones were found about 1.30pm (AEDT) by two men walking from a path at the end
of Normanby Road.
A police spokesman says the bones will remain where they are for some time, before
being taken to the Coroner's office in Melbourne.
Police believe the bones are human but forensic examination is needed to confirm that.
State Emergency Services officers are at the scene and the local area is expected to be searched.
A police spokesman says it's too early to say whether the bones are related to a suspicious
death.
