Vic: High-ranking policeman arrested in Sierra Leone

A high-ranking Victorian police officer has been arrested over an alleged sexual assault
in the West African state of Sierra Leone.

The superintendent, who hasn't been named, is currently on 12-months leave without
pay in Sierra Leone, where he faces charges in relation to an alleged sexual assault.

Victoria Police spokesman KEVIN LOOMES says details surrounding the incident are unclear
and police are trying to obtain further information from Sierra Leone police.

The incident is alleged to have taken place in the West African state sometime this year.
